Riverside Plaza has welcomed a new 8 metre mural depicting the beautiful native Flora and Fauna found in the Tamar Island Wetlands.
Designed by local community artist Melski McVee, the mural has been painted with the help of Grade 5/6 students from Riverside Primary School.
Using a process similar to paint-by-numbers, students applied several layers of the mural on Wednesday the 4th August 2021 at Riverside Plaza. Melski has created community murals in both Western Australia and Tasmania for over 7 years and loves the idea of getting local school kids involved in the process. “The kids always love being involved in the project. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to be a part of something that will be in the shopping centre for years to come”.
The mural, titled “The Curve of Nature” includes the Swan and a range of grass species found in the Wetlands. “The students involved in this project regularly shop at Riverside Plaza with their families. We are excited for the local community to see what these talented students from Riverside Primary School have created for all to see,” said Riverside Plaza Marketing Manager, Kimberley Hogg.
